Neck Tightening Procedures
The neck is one of the most telltale signs of aging, and also an area we tend to neglect. It is one of the toughest areas to rejuvenate! The neck has thinner skin and less subcutaneous fat making your neck look older than your face! It is vital to take care of your neck in the early stages. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Olga Zilberstein to learn about these non-surgical treatments. We have neck rejuvenation treatments available in Brooklyn, NY, and Long Island, NY.
What is a turkey neck?
As we age, we gradually lose collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. These components are vital when it comes to the skin looking plump. A turkey neck happens when the neck skin loses collagen and elastin, causing the skin to become saggy, wrinkly, and crepey. This appearance often gets compared to the neck of a turkey, which is how it got its name.
Can a turkey neck be treated non-surgically?
If you want to treat a turkey neck non-surgically, the key is to treat it in its beginning stages. These would look like slight sagging, thinning of the skin, and neck bands. When it becomes extremely saggy, we refer you to plastic surgery. If you’ve completely ruled it out, we can improve your neck non-surgically slightly, but not completely.
How do you treat a turkey neck?
- Radio-Frequency (RF) Micro-Needling: RF Micro-Needling combines micro-needling technology with RF energy. The needles go deep into the dermis and tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of the turkey neck, and improve skin tone and texture. When we go deep enough, we can dissolve submental fat, reducing the double chin. We often combine this treatment with hyper-dilute Radiesse.
- Hyper-Dilute Radiesse: This is a bio-stimulating filler that stimulates collagen production, tightens the skin, improves tone and texture, and improves crepey skin. In our practice, we like to combine hyper-dilute Radiesse with RF Micro-Needling.
- Threads: We insert mono threads into the double chin and neck to stimulate collagen production, tighten the skin, and reduce the appearance of the double chin.
- Barb Threads: We insert these threads into the skin to pull the excess skin and tighten the area.
- Neuromodulators (Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, Daxxify): We can inject neuromodulators into the platysma muscle. This effectively reduces the appearance of neck bands, creates a more defined jawline, and reduces the turkey neck over time.
What is tech neck?
Tech neck is horizontal neck lines you get from obesity, poor posture, or genetics.
What are treatments for necklines, aka, “tech neck”?
- Hyaluronic Acid Fillers: We use dermal fillers like Restylane, RHA, or Juvederm to directly fill those lines and smooth out the appearance of them.
- Hyper-Dilute Radiesse: This is a collagen-stimulating filler that smooths out the skin and reduces the appearance of those horizontal lines on the neck.
- Radio-Frequency (RF) Micro-Needling: Tiny needles combined with RF energy go deep into the dermis to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin. When done 3-5 times, you will see a reduced appearance in horizontal necklines. We often combine this treatment with hyper-dilute Radiesse.
- Tixel: The Tixel is a needleless treatment that uses heat to contact the skin directly. This causes collagen stimulation, skin tightening, and skin resurfacing. After completing a series of 3-5 treatments, we see an improvement within the necklines. We often combine this treatment with hyper-dilute Radiesse.
- Smooth and Twist Threads: Smooth threads are thin sutures that can be placed directly into the necklines. We immediately see those lines smooth out and they continue improving with time due to collagen stimulation. The threads also tighten the skin.
- Mesotherapy: This is collagen induction therapy. We infuse antioxidants, peptides, growth factors, and vitamins into a solution. This customized solution is then delivered into the skin via micro-droplets to improve the appearance of horizontal wrinkles and improve skin elasticity and firmness.
What are neckbands?
Neck bands are caused by the overuse of the platysma muscle. For example, when you clench your teeth or clench your neck muscles. This causes the formation of vertical necklines, aka, neck bands!
How can you get rid of neckbands?
Neuromodulators are used to successfully treat neckbands. Botox, Jeuveau, or Dysport can be injected into the platysma muscle. This is also known as a “Nefertiti lift”. It effectively reduces the appearance of neck bands, allows a more defined jawline, and reduces turkey neck over time.
How can I treat crepey skin on my neck?
Crepey skin on the neck is a common cosmetic concern for many patients in my practice. The skin on the neck appears to be thin, loose, and finely wrinkled. We can treat crepey skin with the following procedures:
- Hyper-Dilute Radiesse: This stimulates collagen production, improves fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin elasticity, skin tone, and texture.
- Radio-Frequency (RF) Micro-Needling: RF Micro-Needling stimulates collagen production, tightens the skin, and improves hyperpigmentation, skin texture, and skin elasticity.
- Tixel: The Tixel stimulates collagen production, tightens the neck, resurfaces the skin, and improves hyper-pigmentation, skin texture, and elasticity.
- Mesotherapy: We infuse antioxidants, peptides, growth factors, and vitamins into a solution. This customized solution is then delivered into the skin via micro-droplets to improve the appearance of crepey skin.
- Smooth and Twist Threads: Smooth threads are thin sutures that can be placed directly into the neck. Threads stimulate collagen production, improve crepey skin, and tighten the neck.
