What are neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are muscle-relaxing injections made up of botulinum toxin. Botox injections are very popular among those who are between the ages of 25 to 65.
Are there different types of neuromodulators?
There are many brands of neuromodulators. These brands include Botox Cosmetic, Jeuveau, Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin. These brands all work very similarly. The responses to different botulinum toxins are individual. Some of our patients prefer one brand over another.
What brands do we have at our offices?
In our Brooklyn and Long Island offices, we carry Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, and Daxxify!
What do neuromodulators treat?
Botox is used for the treatment of wrinkles. There are two types of wrinkles, static and dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are visible during facial expressions. The lines are present when you’re smiling, frowning, and squinting. When you’ve formed static wrinkles, it’s time for a Botox treatment. These wrinkles are present when you are not making facial expressions and your face is fully relaxed!
Botox can also treat hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is a condition where people have an increased amount of sweat glands that leads to excessive sweating. Yes…the medicine used for wrinkles is FDA-approved and can treat excessive sweating of the under-arms as well as palms and soles, face, and other areas of the body.
Additionally, neuromodulators can provide relief for Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) symptoms including jaw clenching, lockjaw, ear, facial pain, and difficulty chewing.
Botulinum toxin is used widely in medicine for different problems such as migraine headaches, and spastic disorders.
How does Botox work?
Botox, Jeuveau, and Dysport all work to reduce muscle activity that leads to pesky lines and wrinkles. The treatment is quick and can treat many problem areas. You can still smile, frown, laugh, and make any facial expressions you want without seeing fine lines, wrinkles, and creases.
What areas does Botox treat and improve?
- Smooth out moderate to severe wrinkles such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
- Correct bunny lines.
- Correct facial asymmetries.
- Improve an angry or tired appearance.
- Aid in relief from excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
- Aid in relief from Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ). These symptoms include jaw clenching, lockjaw, ear and facial pain, and difficulty chewing.

- Lift the tip of the nose and prevent it from drooping down when smiling.
- Reduce nasal flare and slim the nose by preventing the nostrils from expanding too widely.
- Defines the jawline when injected into the platysma muscle, also known as a “Nefertiti Lift”.
- Reduces the appearance of neck bands when injected into the platysma muscle.
- When injected into the traps, trapezius Botox can improve posture, relieve stiffness and pain, and make your neck appear longer and thinner.
What is baby Botox?
Baby Botox is gaining popularity for individuals starting in their early 20s and 30s. Baby Botox uses less of a dosage compared to a regular Botox treatment. We recommend baby Botox for patients who are just starting to get minimal lines and wrinkles. This is a great treatment to start your journey into aesthetic treatments and help you learn to minimize dramatic facial expressions. It also prevents forming lines and wrinkles.
Can men get Botox?
Men can get Botox! It is often referred to as “Brotox”. Compared to women, men have stronger facial muscles and require more units to achieve the same aesthetic results. It is a popular treatment among men in my practice.
When do I see my results?
Botox results can be seen within a few days, but it takes 14 days to fully “kick” in.
How long does Botox last?
The longevity of Botox varies from individual to individual. On average, it typically lasts three to four months.
